Anxiety can become a habit and one of the best ways to break this bad habit is with systematic desensitization (SD).

Basically SD is pairing relaxation with anxiety provoking images. Because the relaxation response is stronger than anxiety (when you practice relaxation), when you pair those two together then relaxation wins and anxiety loses.
