The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will include a total of 197 athletes (98 females, 99 males) from a total of 77 countries. This number is reduced from years past largely due to Adverse Analytical Findings (AAFs) related to anti-doping violations by several National federations.
All four USA female team members (Delacruz-49kg, Nye-76kg, Rogers-87kg, and Robles-+87kg) and three of the four USA male lifters (Cummings-73kg, Maurus-81kg, and Kitts-109kg) compete in their category’s “A” sessions; USA’s Wilkes (+109kg) competes in his category’s “B” session.
NBC Sports plans to broadcast a greater number of hours of weightlifting competition than in the past. All lifting is scheduled to appear on USA Network.
