Axiom:  All athletes are particular about their equipment.

So, this effort will assume it is being read by two sorts of readers.

The first shopper is the pickleball athlete and the second is someone who loves, likes, or is for another reason shopping for an item a pickleball player might appreciate.

Pickleball athletes play with three fundamental pieces of equipment:

Pickleball paddle

When playing pickleball, you will need a pickleball paddle, which is smaller than a tennis racquet but larger than a table tennis paddle. Originally, paddles were made only from wood, however, today’s paddles have evolved and are primarily made of lightweight composite materials, including aluminum and graphite.

Pickleball ball

The ball is like a whiffle ball with holes in it. Different ball models are intended for indoor and outdoor play. Balls come in several colors, including orange, yellow and green, but must be a single color to meet International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) specifications.

Pickleball shoes

Many new players come to pickleball from other sports.  For instance, running shoes are built to move in one direction, usually.  Pickleball shoes are designed to favor multi-directional movement with lateral stability and support.  Tennis shoes are ideal for pickleball as well.

SportsEdTV has spent time detailing each basic:
