Luis Serra,
Senior Contributor
Luis Serra, a dedicated volleyball player from Puerto Rico, has devoted his life to the sport. His journey began at a young age, and by 14, he was already coaching. This early start laid a strong foundation for his enduring commitment to volleyball.
For the past three years, Serra has served as a technical coordinator for the University of Miami's volleyball program. In this role, he has helped develop training programs, analyze game strategies, and ensure the smooth operation of the team's technical aspects. His contributions have aimed to enhance the team's performance and overall effectiveness. Serra's goal is to provide valuable support to the team, helping each player reach their full potential.
Currently residing in Miami, Serra balances his responsibilities as a technical coordinator with his academic pursuits at the University of Miami's School of Psychology. His studies offer him insights into the mental aspects of coaching and player development, further supporting his work with the volleyball team.
Serra's coaching philosophy emphasizes the technical and tactical aspects of the sport and the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development. He strives to create a positive and supportive environment for his athletes, encouraging them to grow both on and off the court.
In addition to his volleyball career, Serra is a veteran of the army. His military experience has significantly influenced his coaching approach, instilling discipline, leadership, and resilience in his methods. These qualities have been crucial in helping him guide his athletes through challenges and foster a strong sense of dedication and perseverance.
Throughout his career, Serra has been fortunate to be mentored by many exceptional coaches. These mentors have significantly influenced his approach to the game, and he hopes to pass on their valuable insights and guidance to his own athletes.
