John Garhammer,

Dr. Garhammer is currently Professor Emeritus and former Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Long Beach. He recieved his Doctorate in Kinesiology from UCLA with specialization in Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology. He is the author of the book Sports Illustrated Strength Training and has had over 80 articles and chapters on biomechanical and strength training topics published in textbooks and technical and popular journals. Dr. Garhammer has supervised strength and conditioning programs for varsity athletes at UCLA, Auburn University, and California State University, Long Beach. He is currently a Fellow of the National Strength and Conditioning Assoc iation, and has been presented with several awards by the NSCA, including the Lifetime Ac hievement Award and Sport Scientist of the Year Award. He has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for both the USA Strength & Conditioning Coac hes Assoc iation and USA We ightlifting. Helcompeted in over a hundred Weightlifting competitions over a 50 year period, and has won or medaled in competitions such as the California and Pennsylvania State Championships, U.S. National Collegiate Championships, several Open Championships and National Master's Championships.
