Dean Reinmuth,
Senior Contributor
Dean Reinmuth is widely recognized as one of the most respected and innovative golf instructors in the world. A former tour professional and long-standing member of the elite group of PGA Tour instructors, Dean has built a global reputation for coaching some of the game’s most accomplished players. He began coaching Phil Mickelson at age 13, guiding him through four AJGA Rolex Player of the Year awards, three NCAA Championships, a U.S. Amateur title, and his first PGA TOUR victory as an amateur. Over his career, Dean has worked with champions across the PGA TOUR, LPGA TOUR, European Tour, Asia Tour, and collegiate and junior golf, including more than 20 players who went on to win their first professional events under his guidance.
Dean is the developer of the acclaimed Swing Shaping System, a teaching philosophy centered on refining each player’s natural motion rather than rebuilding the swing from scratch. This “reshaping” approach has helped golfers of every level improve consistency, maximize feel, and perform under competitive pressure. His work in golf instruction has been deeply influenced by mentors such as Bob Toski, Jim Flick, and Davis Love, Jr., and he has authored thousands of instructional articles along with the best-selling book Tension Free Golf and the instructional video Take a Swing at Tension, which has sold more than one million copies.
A familiar face in golf media, Dean spent more than 15 years as one of The Golf Channel’s most featured instructors, hosting Golf Talk Live, Golf Channel Academy, The Dean of the Road, and other instructional programs seen in more than 100 million households worldwide. He was selected by Augusta National to provide the first-ever live instructional “from the range” segments for Masters.org. In addition to his media presence, Dean has served as a keynote speaker for PGA Teaching Summits in multiple countries and has worked with corporations such as AT&T, Northern Trust, Paine Webber, and Anheuser-Busch.
Today, as Director of the Dean Reinmuth Instructional Golf Centers, Dean continues to coach professionals, elite juniors, and dedicated amateur players. His life’s work is grounded in one enduring belief: when a golfer’s swing matches their natural movement and personality, the game becomes both more powerful and more enjoyable.
