David J. Szymanski, Ph.D.,

Dr. Szymanski is the Department Chair and Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Louisiana Tech University (LaTech). He is the Director of Baseball Performance for the LaTech Baseball team. He holds the Eva Cunningham Endowed Professorship in Education. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach with Distinction (CSCS,*D), Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach Emeritus (RSCC*E), a Fellow (FNSCA), and a past Board of Director member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

He is an Associate Editor for the NSCA’s Journal of Strength Conditioning Research and the Strength and Conditioning Journal. He is a Sports Science Educational Board Member of Power Lift. He teaches courses in strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, and exercise prescription.

He received a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Auburn University in 2004. He has conducted or contributed to over 70 scientific investigations and reviews examining various aspects of sports performance. His primary research has focused on ways to improve baseball performance. He is the co-editor and contributing author of Strength Training for Baseball (NSCA and Human Kinetics book in process).

He formerly was Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the LaTech Baseball team for 8 years. He was the Exercise Physiologist for the Auburn University Baseball team for 5 years and the Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach for 2 years. Dr. Szymanski was the Assistant Baseball Coach and Weight Room Director at Texas Lutheran University for 4 years.
