The purpose of this soccer drill is to work on DECISION MAKING while improving TWO TOUCH PASSING, utilizing FITLIGHT®.
“A player starts standing opposite their coach. There is one FITLIGHT® next to the coach, and two goals behind him, one on each side, each with one FITLIGHT®. The coach will activate the trigger light beside them and then pass the ball to the player. Once the trigger light is activated, one
...
of the two FITLIGHT® behind the coach will light up as the ball is fed to the player. The player must take a positive first touch towards the activated light, and with their second touch pass through the goal.
Players should be on the balls of their feet waiting to receive, as they’ll need to respond to the ball very quickly. Their first touch should be a positive touch towards the active light that sets up their pass. The
decision on which direction to go in must be made before the ball reaches the player. Players should practice receiving with both the inside and outside of both feet. Their first touch should always be in the
direction of the active light and slightly in front of them, to set them up to comfortably step up to the ball and pass it with their second touch.
This drill is great for all positions. To increase the difficulty, the coach can play a harder pass. The FITLIGHT® can also be programmed to activate slower after the trigger light, giving the player even less
time to react.
