HEADERS - WINNING SOCCER SKILLS • AGES 14-16
HEADERS - Winning Soccer Skills, Ages 14-16 In this series, Coach Henry Taramona works through all one needs to know in order to do a ... proper header. We at SportsEdTv advise that all young athletes follow your country’s guidelines on when to begin practicing this skill. With one player starting while sitting on the ground, the ball is tossed to them to return with a header. After 10 headers the player repeats the drill while kneeling, then standing. Always keeping an eye on the ball and using his or her forehead, the player then attacks the ball out of the air sending the ball back to the one who tossed it. When standing, the player needs to make sure one foot in front of the other in a side stance in order to gain power from the back foot to attack the ball out of the air. Each progression is recommended to practice everyday, with 10 headers in all three phases.
