CATCH & THROW - Winning Goalkeeping Skill. Former Division 1 goalkeeper and experienced goalkeeping coach Brian Galvin explains the throwing technique in this goalkeeper training video. Often once a keeper catches the ball a throw is the most effective way to distribute it. there are no opponents between the goalkeeper and the teammate, the throw should be kept low and skipped along the ground so that it travels faster and is easier for the teammate to receive. If there is an opponent in the way, the ball should be thrown just above head height to ensure it travels too high to be intercepted. The keeper's throwing arm should be kept straight, and be directed over the top rather than from the side. Goalies should practice this technique often as it's a very important skill, and always make sure to warm up their shoulders beforehand.
