Welcome to this great basketball defensive slide progression drill, presented by SportsEdTV and powered by FITLIGHT®.
In this drill, we are working on your defensive slides and defensive timing. The purpose of this drill is to improve your defensive stance and lateral quickness.
The main keys of the defensive slide progression drill are as follows:
Stance: Remain in a solid defensive stance throughout the entire drill.
Footwork: Be mindful of your footwork
...
when changing directions and speed
Hands: Our hands are active the entire drill, deactivating FITLIGHT®.
To set up this drill, set two FITLIGHT®, approximately 20 feet apart. The illustration depicts a sample positioning, although our lesson will utilize a different part of the court. Use whatever space you have to perform this drill.
The drill is suited to accommodate one player at a time and the player will start in the middle, moving side to side deactivating the lights at the speed of each light. This is where timing comes into play. The player will start off slow and speed up as the drill continues.
This is a great drill for all ages and skill levels to improve lateral movement while sharpening defensive skills.
