All exercises can be easy or hard, depending on the intensity used. The muscles used in the Press are relatively small in comparison to the lower body.

The "press" is no longer known as a "military" press, as that lift was eliminated nearly 100 years ago. The press was dropped from competition in 1972. The press is a fine upper body pushing exercise.
