TOE WALKS - WINNING FOOTSKILLS 1 • AGES 10-13
TOE WALKS– Winning Foot Skills 1 for Ages 10-13. Former US National Champion, Eric De Sousa teaches a drill on toe walks, to work on ... the foot dexterity of the players. Set up a lane of cones and if available, poles for each player to play through with a ball at the foot of each player. Start by rolling the ball from side to side using the toe of each foot, staying very light on our feet, moving our arms naturally, while keeping our head up waiting for visual cues from the coach. The first cue from the coach will signal them moving forward slowly to the end of the lane, where they will again move while stationery, waiting for the cue to return slowly backwards to their starting position. Once they are back to the line, they can then burst forward into space with a positive touch on the ball, through the lane and tap the ball into the small goal. Be sure that the player has a nice relaxed upper body with a fluid motion, maintaining control of the ball on their toes, while keeping their head up to be aware of what’s going on around them. This is a great warm up drill at the start of practice, promoting dexterity and awareness.
