Backhand volley two-hand vs. one-hand During this pickleball lesson, coach Sarah Ansoboury demonstrates the benefits of both one-handed and two-handed backhand volleys and what are the key focus for both. Often players get stuck thinking they have to do one or the other. In reality, in pickleball, players should have a combination of both depending on the situation and the ball being stroke. There are a lot of benefits to ... having both. After this lesson, the pickleball player should be able to recognize in what situation the player should hit with a 2-handed volley or a one-handed volley. One of the benefits of a two-handed backhand is more acceleration, creating a more attackable ball. When hitting a two-handed volley, the key focus is maintaining the shoulders even, contact point in front, and keeping the elbows relaxed. One of the benefits of a one-handed volley is that you can get more motion (more reach) and the ability to cut more balls. Another pickleball lesson recommended is "RECOGNIZE WHEN TO ATTACK OR HIT A BLOCK SHOT IN PICKLEBALL." Resetting the ball is key to getting back into a neutral position and taking your game to the next level, decreasing the chances of unforced errors and getting into a favorable position to attack the next shot. Coach Sarah demonstrates different situations to hit a block shot. Shot selection is important to put your team in the best possible position when you are out of position or under attack and unable to counterattack.
