Gylton Da Matta Ph.D. – Sports Pedagogy & Motor Learning by University of South Carolina. Post-Doc in Applied Technology in Team Sports Research by the University of Barcelona, Spain. International volleyball instructor, researcher and consultant.

Dr. Gylton Da Matta is an Adjunct Professor of Education & Sports Management at Colorado State University. Currently collaborating with the USA Volleyball High Performance, Dr. Da Matta used to consult for the Danish Volleyball Federation, and the Brazilian Volleyball Federation as a volleyball instructor and lecturer for elite volleyball coaches from the national teams and professional league coaches. In 2012 and 2013, Dr. Da Matta lectured at the International Olympic Academy Young Participants Conference and Masters of Coaching. Dr. Da Matta is committed to promote high quality instruction for young volleyball players as well as coach’s education programs for elite players, coaches and parents’ education. Dr. Da Matta is specialized in expertise development in volleyball in which he has earned his Ph.D. towards applied sports science, Motor Learning and Sports Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina, in 2004. Dr. Da Matta engages in qualitative, quantitative and interdisciplinary research approaches in education, health promotion, coaching expertise, motor learning, and human development in sports pedagogy, expertise development, and sports mega-events (Pan-American Games, World Military Games, World Universiade Games, Olympic Games and World-Cup). In 2019, Dr. Da Matta completed a Post-Doc at the University of Barcelona studying international exchange programs and Sports Management of High Performance at INEFC (National Institute of Physical Education of Catalunya) in partnership with Universitat Pompeu Fabra – Sports Marketing Department. Supervised two Danish interns in Sports Management and Sports Marketing at FC Barcelona-Volleyball focusing on team sports programs research. At Barca, Dr. Da Matta studied administration systems of applied sports technology in human movement analyses & variability (entropy) and examined designing studies in Sports Pedagogy as it relates to practice variability, practice design and expertise development in team sports.

His research on expertise development in sports has received recognition by the International Olympic Academy based in Athens, Greece, through the Journal of the International Olympic Academy invitation and referral to lectures published at the 52th IOA Convention prior to London Summer Olympics. Dr. Da Matta is finishing the publication of the Volleyball Expertise in the XXI Century book with the support of SportsEdTV and in collaboration with the top volleyball coaches and scholars in the world.
